Prepare the handoff
Review decisions and notes describe your assessment. CatalogProof does not certify that a store is ready to launch.
Finish with evidence.

Keep both snapshots
Export products before your change. Export again after it completes. Match the catalog scope and base currency.

What this comparison can tell you.
What is compared?
Exact, case-sensitive SKUs after trimming surrounding whitespace; decimal prices; barcodes; up to three option values; product status and online-store publication when present in both files; and selected image presence/count checks. Required columns are SKU, product handle and price. Missing optional columns appear in the coverage record.
Does a missing SKU mean a product was deleted?
No. It means there was no exact, unambiguous SKU match in the second file. A renamed SKU, filtered export or blank identifier can explain it. Review the export scope and intended changes. Duplicate SKUs and rows without identifiers are excluded visibly.
Is this a complete migration test?
No. It compares supplied product-export data. It does not inspect the live store or verify checkout, orders, customers, redirects, variants' internal IDs, variant metafields, all-location inventory, image reachability or other sales channels. Image URL counts do not establish that live images work. Use your normal release checks alongside the report.
How are my files handled?
CSV parsing, comparison and report assembly run in your browser. Product files are not uploaded. An optional email follow-up sends only your address, consent, and a SHA-256 fingerprint for the file pair to the configured follow-up service; it never sends CSV or report contents. Checkout receives the selected plan and fingerprint, not the catalog contents. You can clear the workspace at any time.
Why pay when I already have an import tool?
This is an independent review record of what changed after execution. The paid deliverable adds a formatted handoff with decisions, notes, source references and coverage. Evaluate the free findings and sample report before deciding whether that saves enough review time for your team.
What does Shopify say about imports?
Shopify documents that overwrites can clear fields and option edits can replace variant IDs. CatalogProof helps review exported results; it does not simulate every import behavior. Read Shopify’s current product CSV documentation.
